BIOL 1120 GENERAL BIOLOGY II, FALL 2020
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING REVIEW RESEARCH PAPER
COMMENT:
The purpose of this REVIEW PAPER is to introduce students of General Biology to the art of literature survey and scientific writing. It aims to succinctly review recent progress in a particular topic. Overall, this paper should summarize the current state of knowledge of a chosen topic. It should create an understanding of the topic for the reader by discussing the findings presented in recent research papers.
A review paper is not a “term paper” or book report. It is not merely a report on some references you found. Instead, a review paper synthesizes the results from several primary literature papers to produce a coherent argument about a topic or focused description of a field.
The paper will be evaluated on the bases of substance, adherence to instructions, avoidance of plagiarism and style as indicated in the syllabus.
