Business Managers and Attorneys: What happens when a lawyer represents a client who has no agent or manager? How do lawyers charge their clients? What is the lawyer’s role in working with the Artist? With the other members of the team?

1. Find at least two lawsuits where a lawyer was sued by their artist client.
2. What were the grounds for the lawsuit?
3. What were the allegations made against the lawyer?
4. What do lawyers and most agents have in common that is different than managers?

Is the lawyer’s job to get every single concession in a deal even if it means the other side is unhappy? Or is it to ensure that the deal is fair for both sides so that both sides are happy when the deal is concluded? Does it depend upon the kind of deal?
