After reading the novel (attached in the updated files), please come out with an essay question/topic and answer it with a thesis including three strong supporting details/arguments. I will show my teacher the question and thesis as she needs to approve it before embarking unto the essay. The question should start with: What idea(s) does the author develop about…
Topics to chose from would include: gender issues, positive/negative characters, dreams and reality, realism and setting, shaped by period, setting and characters, title of novel, social-class issues. The detailed topics are uploaded in a file.
Upon my instructor’s approval, the essay can be started. Could I kindly request that the essay format in the uploaded file be followed. The intro starts with a general statement about society regarding the topic, followed by the thesis and the 3 arguments which illustrate the thesis. At least TWO literacy devices that explains the arguments need to be introduced in the intro. Finally, there should be a transition sentence leading into the first body paragraph. Body paragraphs should explain the arguments brought up in the intro and each paragraph should have at least 3-4 quotes (more is encouraged) from the novel. Kindly use footnotes for in text citations (follow example of uploaded essay). Please include a transition sentence at the end of each paragraph that will lead to the next topic.
FYI, I have also included example essays that I wrote to gain an understanding of my writing voice (does not need to be followed if not convenient).
