Discourse community

Starting from what discourse community of an Oracle Inc should look. Oracle is a big software company located in the united states of America. Many software engineers or developers are working for the Oracle company all over the world. A group of Discourse Community in the Oracle campus comes together and shares general values and assumptions of projects, technologies, and discussion on the same or different goals. I will focus upon some core researcher work that I have done so far for the Discourse community as an internal corporation in oracle corporation Malaysia. I have also interviewed one of my friend brothers.

My friend’s brother’s name is Kunal. He works for Oracle in Bridgewater Township, NJ. He is a Project Leader in the oracle company . He worked as a software engineer for 4 years. He worked as a computer technician intern at oracle Inc. I have collected many questions to ask him for our discourse community research essay. I have used verbal speech or communicating for this interview. This interview took place at my house on 12th October 2020. Questions are as follows, I asked him how you guys work together during the project? Is it difficult for you when any person or people do not know the solution or did not understand the project terms? We worked on the project together. Project leader which means, in this case, Kunal sign different tasks to everyone in the project. Most of the projects in their companies are live projects in the other way like everyone can work and edit from their end(need access to enter the project). Once work is distributed work together and then lastly common with the solution. It is difficult when a person in our group do not know the project terms, Project leader sign that the work which they are capable of and going forward they are signed for the hard work. If anyone needs help any group member or project leader can help him to make the person understand the goals of the project. The second question of what mechanisms do group leaders or members use to communicate with each other? They usually use emails most of the time. But, during work time, they use any different software such as zoom, etc. for meeting and sharing screens to show the exact problem to their senior. The third question is how long you been in this company? why are you involved? He has been working for the oracle company for the last 10 years. I am involved because I have been loving the atmosphere and environment of the oracle campus. I see here we all work together as one community. We all have something to share with our colleagues such as regarding new technology, or something interesting going on in the world related to computer products, etc.

I have a personal connection with one of the employees of Oracle. I have used the verbal speech to interview my friends’ brother. The modes of communication that set this specific discourse community was using computer-related or technologies. From what I have selected to write upon in this specific essay the function is a software development and computer technicians. They define the roles and responsibilities among members like a different employee who has a different role, and some might have the same role and responsibility to do. For example, the community software engineer has to do the task of coding. Sometimes they have different tasks inside coding. Membership is regulated upon the member’s many other people also can join some of their community meetings. Oracle has listed on the websites and they have the personal specific tag on their website. No knowledge is need when you join their public community. To join people will just need to sign up for the account. They use academic writing such as articles and communication they use recorded video from their YouTube channels or might be from some other software researcher company to understand basic concepts. They are supporting genre features such as cloud, Applications, technologies, etc. they apply to the agenda of the discourse community while giving more in-depth knowledge about each technology, Applications, and Cloud.

This picture represents, some people are sitting and watching the demo from the manger or team leader. Some people are reading flyers which has an instruction of the event and name of the host. Flyers might have more instruction about the host and what he does for the company. Seems like Flyers is about the turbo talks; they all are discussing for the future technology and goals to grow the company profit. Some people seem like they are using cell phone and laptops; they might be watching the flyers online or research the details of the host. Some people are listening to host carefully with full of concentration. Outside might not understand about this community based on the image is they do not have oracle community logo. So, they might think they are watching movie or doing something. The important features of the discourse community have not or cannot be captures in these images is the picture clearly shows everyone is busy doing their own work. They might be discussing before or after the event. In the event, seems like no one is communicating with each other.
