No Child Left Behind Act

The class is Public Policy. The assignment is to write a letter to a state legislator regarding an issue impacting my community from a social work perspective. The letter must include the following:

1. What is the topic or issue for the letter? The topic is the NCLB Act.
2. What bills, petitions, etc. are being addressed? The petition being addressed is that the state of MA is exempted from the NCLB Act due to its adverse impact on immigrant children in our state.

The NCLB Act is no longer in effect and was replaced by another act. However, the letter must be written in present tense as though the acts were still in effect. The letter must demonstrate an understanding of public policy and advocate on behalf of immigrant children in our demographic area, and state why the policy is detrimental to immigrant students. The letter should include a request for a waiver for the state of MA from the federal policy and explain why it is in our state’s best interest to waive the NCLB Act requirements.

Font should be in Times Roman, size 12, single spaces. Do not date the letter or address it to anyone in particular. No sources needed. Please message me with questions. Thank you!
