The proposal for your research project should have a title that consists of two parts. The first should be general (e.g., Cinematic Representations of the Vietnam War), followed by a colon (:), and then a phrase that conveys your focus (e.g., One Heroic, One Tragic, and One Surreal). The body should be between 75 and 100 words long and consist of 3 to 5 paragraphs  •       Your proposal should, first, describe a focused topic with breadth and depth enough for a 10-15 page research paper (not counting the “title” and “works cited” pages). •       It should, second, discuss a preliminary foray into researching the topic–a brief discussion of a text, whether architectural, artistic, cinematic, imaginative, or scholarly in nature, that prompted your interest in exploring the topic further. (This may—or may not—come from the online course materials. •       It should conclude with a statement as to what you hope to learn and share with or prove to your readers. In other words, it should establish what problem(s) you intend to explore and what self-awareness and solution(s) can be gained from the publication of your work. (This statement, of course, is subject to revision as you proceed.)
