This discussion will be open from 8am Wednesday morning to 8pm Thursday evening.

I’d like everyone to submit at least three posts. Below are prompts to get the discussion started. If you have other ideas you would like to share, they are equally valid.

If you are early in the discussion, choose one or more of the prompts to respond to.
If you enter (or re-enter) the discussion after there have been several posts, read the posts and reply to them. You do not need to respond to the original prompts.
All discussion posts are due by Thursday at 8pm.
Return to the discussion before next week to read what your classmates and I have contributed.
Discussion Prompts

1. What are the transnational aspects of this film?

2. It is pretty clear, I think, what Zeina wants in this film. But what about Tony? How do their wants/needs determine their relationship?

3. This film is a fictional narrative, a road movie, but one that incorporates–and perhaps comments on–documentary techniques. What makes it a fiction? what draws it close to documentary?

As always, consider cinematic techniques in addition to narrative as you respond to these prompts. Oh, and here is a bonus one–so,

4. Under The Bombs is a pretty bleak film, but there is some humor in it, right? Where? How is it used?

Expectations
