Mycology

The purpose of this Final (25% of total grade) is for you to explore a current (published 2016-2020) research article of interest to you and then write a short summary/review (3-5 pages) of this article ending with a discussion on how this study contributes to a field in Mycology. There is no strict format to this. Include references for other papers that you use to support your overall summary.

Your Review should include:

Purpose of the Study

Hypothesis to be tested

Experimental Design

Any new methodology used

Results

Discussion

Your overall summary

If you want help finding a research article that interests you, I suggest that you:

Go to NIH RePorter

Go to Query

Pick Fiscal Year (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020)

Go to Text Search and type in words that may be used to find currently funded research in Mycology (for example, I used ‘Fungi pathogenesis’ for one search and ‘Fungal Vaccines’ for another). From this search, you can scroll until you find a study that interests you.

Then go to PubMed and search for the PI’s name with helpful words to find a paper.

Otherwise, if you know what you are interested in you can search right from PubMed.
