There are several cases on the docket of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) that directly address civil liberties and rights. You will need to select a case and answer the following questions:

Case name: (example: Lawrence v. Texas)

What are the facts of the case? (1-2 sentences)

What Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is being questioned? (List the Amendment(s))

How will the outcome of the case impact the lives of American residents? Who benefits? Who is disadvantaged?

How would you rule on the case? What is the reasoning behind your decision?

Tips for Completing Discussion Prompts

-Use 7-10 complete sentences and proper grammar.

-When you reference an article you should cite the article as a source. For each discussion, I will always provide a cited article and questions to prompt your dialogue. When you complete a discussion you should copy and paste the cited article that I provide into your answer. All work must be cited using MLA format.

-To receive a 15/16 on a discussion grade, you will need to demonstrate that you have researched relevant articles outside of the course to support your opinion. Your post must demonstrate that your opinion is backed by facts.
