Is there an MLA-style header on top left side of bibliography? Are there MLA-style page numbers/last name on top right side of each page?(For examples, see page 527 of textbook and posted sample bibliographies.)    
Does it have same title as on first and second page of posted samples? Has a page break been inserted between these sections?    
Is the first page a one/two-paragraph summary/overview of connections between the four sources?

 

   
Does the summary/overview on the first page end with at least two sentences describing the writer’s current plans for the research paper?

Does the bibliography analyze its topic primarily in terms of their relevance to socioeconomic class and/or consumerism?

 

   
Is the document evenly double-spaced throughout? (Make sure that there aren’t extra line spaces between citations; see instructions on “Formatting Tips” handout.)

 

   
Does the bibliography have a hanging indent? (Make sure the hanging indent is applied to the annotations/summaries, i.e., that only the first line of each citation/summary is not indented. Follow instructions on “Formatting Tips” handout.)

 

   
Are all four sources listed in alphabetical order?

 

   
Is the same style font used throughout (including header)?

 

   
Are all article titles in quotation marks? Are all journal and database titles in italics?

 

   
Do the citations include the specific database title (e.g., Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, JSTOR, etc.)?Remember that any citation that mentions Galileo or Ebsco is incorrect!!(See p. 440 in textbook as well as posted samples.)

 

   
Are all the citations in the new 8th edition MLA style? Do they look exactly like the citations in the textbook and on the posted samples? Do they have the same punctuation throughout as the examples in textbook and posted samples? (HINT: Citations that write the volume and issue numbers as a decimal, rather than with the abbreviations “vol.” and “no.” are in the old MLA style and thus incorrect!)

 

   
Do the citations follow MLA style for capitalizing of keywords in titles (see p 433)?    
Do the citations follow MLA style for abbreviating months (see p 434)?    
Do the citations follow MLA style for shortening URLs (see p 435) and for shortening page ranges to last two digits (see 13.c on p. 441)?    
See #7 on the “Citation Checklist.” Has the writer avoided using the words “article,” “journal,” and “quote”? Has the writer avoided mentioning the article titles everywhere except the actual citations themselves?

 

   
Does the bibliography have in-text parenthetical citations for every quotation (if any quotations have been used)? Does the name or title in each parenthetical citation match the FIRST word in the corresponding works cited citation?

 

   
In the introductory summary on the first page, does the writer refer to authors by first and last names on first mention and by last name only in every subsequent mention?

 

   
If a source has multiple authors, has the writer referred to all authors (or used “et al.”) throughout, including parenthetical citations, bibliography citations, and within sentences?Have plural verbs been used when subject is multiple authors?
