Application essay

I need help in editing and rewriting this PhD application essay. I would like the essay shortened (I believe I am too close to the essay and therefore having trouble removing things that may not be relevant to a PhD reviewer). I also need help in editing, rewriting, content, organization and using stronger words. I want the essay to sound very intellectual PhD worthy. The questions for this specific school is below and also at the very top of this paper. The three bullets below the questions are the areas I would like to research in a doctoral program, however, if the essay reads more strongly for other topics please feel free to remove and rewrite better points. I want a very solid essay with strong words, flows well and very intellectual.

1. Describe your reasons for pursuing a doctoral education. What are your major academic areas of interest?

2. How do your professional experience and academic background relate to your plans for study? What are your career goals?

3. What facets of the Columbia program interest you the most? Explain why you feel this program would be a good match for you.
