Case Study

Construct a 7-10-page paper which will demonstrate your knowledge and command of a legal issue involving school law. The topic will be your choice but needs to be approved by me.

Your paper will include the following sections:

Section 1:  Case Study (1-2 pages)

Section 2:  Breakdown of the case (1 page)

• What is the issue?
• What is the rule of law?
• How was the rule applied?
• Decision of court

Section 3:  Literature review  (4-6 pages)

• Introduction of topic
• What does literature say about topic? Is there any history to this topic? Have Courts ruled on this topic before?   Why is this topic important? What are the major issues?  What is the current impact of this topic?  How prevalent is it in our society?
• What law(s) govern this issue

o   What does the law say about this issue either explicitly or in your interpretation

o   Describe two cases that courts have used to enforce this issue

Section 4:  Conclusion (1 page)

• What is the impact of your case study topic on schools in the 21^stCentury?
