Chapter 1:
Although combating terrorism has entailed restrictions on civil liberties, I believe that national security is extremely important. In my opinion, safety is the top priority. But that doesn’t mean Americans have to give up on civil liberty. We can have security without violating civil rights and liberty. As long as it doesn’t go against the constitution or violate the right of Americans. For example: freedom of speech, press, and religion. Which are The Bill of Rights the first ten amendments of the constitution. We must have a balance between civil liberty and national security. I find it necessary to give up some liberties (without crossing the line) in order to have security in the United States. Both liberty and security are equally important. In my opinion we are better off opting for more security even even though we may have to sacrifice some liberties. Both goals are equally exclusive in my opinion, we can have both security and liberty without exceeding both limits. Even thought some Americans feel concerned about some security measures such as monitoring calls and emails in order to keep the country safe. Most Americans do perceive that it makes sense to give up some liberties in order to feel more secure.
