Paper 5 – Persuasion through academic research

For your final paper you will need to take a clear stand on an issue and develop logical support for your argument. Remember that you are trying to be informative, but more importantly, persuasive through logical backing of your points using primarily academic research. You will also need to acknowledge opposing viewpoints and overcome their objections. Your essay will need to contain the basics of a formal essay –introduction, body paragraphs, transitions, addressment of opposition and conclusion. In addition to the basic requirements, you will need to find at least 4 sources.

Audience: Intelligent peers

Length: 4-5 pages

Format:  APA, word processed, double spaced

Helpful Tips:

• Before jumping into your argument, first set up the general issue for your audience
• Organize your paragraphs to fit the points you wish to bring forth
• For each point you present, you will want to provide sufficient evidence
• Assume you are writing for someone with the opposing viewpoint and you are trying to convince them otherwise without making them feel attacked
